Germany Wins Historic FIBA Game
Obst and Wagner Lead German Upset
In a thrilling semi-final match at the O2 Arena, Germany upset the heavily favored United States 113-111. Andreas Obst led the way for Germany with 24 points, while Franz Wagner added 22. The win marks the first time a team has ever scored more than 100 points against the USA in a FIBA game.
USA Struggles to Find Rhythm
The United States struggled to find their rhythm throughout the game, shooting just 40% from the field. Anthony Edwards and Mikal Bridges led the scoring for the USA with 15 points each, but no other player scored more than 10 points.
Germany, on the other hand, shot the ball well from all over the court. They hit 50% of their shots from the field and 40% of their shots from three-point range. Obst and Wagner were particularly impressive, hitting a combined 11-of-18 shots from three-point range.
Germany Earns Berth in Final
With the win, Germany advances to the final where they will face the winner of the Spain vs. Argentina semi-final. The final will be played on September 10, 2023 at the O2 Arena.
