Karen Read Murder Trial: Testimony Resumes in Sensational Case
Karen Read Accused of Murdering Boyfriend John OKeefe
Karen Read, charged with second-degree murder in the death of her boyfriend, Boston police officer John O'Keefe, faced resumed testimony on Thursday in her ongoing trial. O'Keefe was found unresponsive outside a Canton home in January 2022.
Night of the Incident
On the night of January 28, 2022, Read, O'Keefe, and a group of friends visited the Waterfall Bar and Grill in Canton. Following the outing, Read allegedly backed her SUV into O'Keefe and left him for dead in the cold.
Trial Proceedings
Testimony resumed in the sensational murder trial, with the prosecution presenting evidence against Read. The defense, led by attorney Alan Jackson, cross-examined witnesses and presented their own arguments.
Denied Pre-Trial Request
The judge presiding over the case denied Read's request for access to certain evidence, including a recording of a 911 call made after O'Keefe's discovery. The court ruled that the release of such evidence could harm the ongoing trial.
Upcoming Hearings
Read appeared in court on Tuesday for a hearing regarding access to evidence. The trial is expected to continue with further testimony and evidence presentation in the coming weeks.
