Blancos secure 15th Champions League title with victory over Borussia Dortmund
Real Madrid have been crowned kings of Europe once again after securing their 15th Champions League title with a 2-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund at Wembley Stadium.
A match that lived up to the hype
The match was a thrilling encounter that lived up to the hype, with both sides creating chances throughout the 90 minutes. However, it was Real Madrid who took the lead in the 17th minute through Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese forward pounced on a loose ball in the Dortmund defence and fired home a low shot into the bottom corner.
Dortmund responded well to going behind and created a number of chances of their own, but they were unable to find the equaliser. Real Madrid doubled their lead in the 73rd minute through Gareth Bale. The Welshman latched onto a pass from Luka Modric and chipped the ball over the onrushing goalkeeper.
Dortmund continued to press for a goal in the closing stages, but Real Madrid held on to secure the victory and claim their 15th Champions League title.
