In what has been hailed as one of the greatest comebacks in UEFA Champions League history, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) stunned Barcelona in a thrilling match on March 8, 2017. With Barcelona holding a commanding 4-0 lead from the first leg of their Round of 16 tie, few gave PSG much of a chance of progressing.
However, the French champions produced an unforgettable performance at the Parc des Princes, scoring four unanswered goals in the second leg. Edinson Cavani got PSG off to a flying start with a goal in the third minute.
Zlatan Ibrahimović doubled their lead in the 40th minute, but Barcelona pulled one back through Luis Suárez just before halftime. PSG continued to push forward in the second half, and Julian Draxler equalized on the hour mark.
With the tie level at 4-4 on aggregate, Sergi Roberto looked to have sent Barcelona through to the quarter-finals with a goal in the 95th minute. However, PSG had one last chance, and Layvin Kurzawa scored an own goal in the 93rd minute to make it 5-5 and force extra time.
PSG took control in extra time and scored two more goals through Neymar and Cavani. Barcelona's dream of winning the treble was over, while PSG celebrated one of the greatest nights in their history.
